Five of the Nickel Plate Road’s 2-8-4 Berkshire-type steam locomotives strike a heroic pose for a company photo at Bellevue. Ohio. in October 1945.
The railroad relied on these high-performance locomotives for its time-sensitive freight service well into the 1950s. but they succumbed to diesels in 1958. Of the survivors. Fort Wayne. Ind.-based No. 765 is still in excursion service.
The high-resolution image measures 15″ x 21″ upon completion. Also included is a poster that can be used as a handy reference during assembly.
